- Can we make use of the existing land? Are there natural slopes or rock structures that may be right on the property? If so, this might be the perfect spot for your backyard waterfall. If you don’t have any slopes or rocks, don’t worry. We can create some for you that look like they had been there for hundreds of years.
- How big should the pond or stream for the backyard waterfall be? This is a discussion we have in the early stages with the homeowner. We believe the pond below must be just as spectacular as the waterfall. We will also need to run electricity to the pond so that the waterfall has power to pump and circulate the cascading water. Something to keep in mind in the planning stages is that the larger sized structures require more electricity so be sure to budget accordingly. What type of rocks and boulders will be used? Probably the most important rocks are “spillway” rocks or boulders. These will be relatively flat. Water cascades more cleanly over these edges and into your pond. Our design center has a variety of rocks and boulders to choose from. We use only natural boulders for a long lasting water feature.
- Are there any weeds or debris in the way? If the space isn’t already clear, we will come in and clear it out before we start the project. When renovating an existing water feature we will try to reuse or recycle materials if possible to keep costs low.
